Grande Traversée des Alpes / Routes de la Lavande : The great crossing of the Alps / The lavender roads
Created as a non-profit-making association in 1971 to "promote walking holidays between Lake Geneva and the Mediterranean", the GTA devised the very concept of the ramblers' lodge and the first great Alpine walking trail. Today, it is a tool for developing tourism, serving all the regional authorities of the Alpine massif.
Les Routes de la Lavande
The flower of Haute-Provence - "the Lavender Trail" offers you a chance to explore an area - its history, its landscapes, its people and their skills - forever marked by this "little" mountain plant whose fame, through the centuries, has travelled right around the world.
Created in 1996 to support lavender production through unified, quality tourism, the organization "les Routes de la lavande" is now handing over to the Grande Traversée des Alpes.
L’Occitane and Les Routes de la Lavande have the same aim : to help the lavender channel to develop a sustainable touristic offer.
